Book Review: What Mystery Will the Truth Unravel in "Scattered Legacy"

Author Marlene M. Bell has once again given readers through a deftly wound plot of mystery and intrigue in the third installment of her Annalisse Series, Scattered Legacy.

For the reader just approaching this series, I would highly recommend reading the first two titles, Stolen Obsession and Spent Identity. Doing so will definitely afford you a better understanding of the unusual relationship that sizzles between the main characters.

It also explains the bodies.

Yes, the Annalisse Series is a mystery series, feathered through with suspense, and tinged with romance. It also has a running ticker of how many bodies are piling up at the main characters' feet. There's a reason for the madness, however, as readers will discover as the arcing mystery unfurls. One detail I appreciated was how Bell is adept at using the suspense to heighten the tension between her hero and heroine.

Readers who enjoy the power of books to transport us to far-off destinations will appreciate the Chianti-flavored locale as Bell sends Annalise and Alex to romantic, albeit dangerous, Italy. After a heinous murder hits a little close to home, the pair finds themself up against the mafia and a horrible truth of a legacy scattered across the ocean.

Without divulging too much of the plot, suffice it to say, Scattered Legacy is an enjoyable read, with great characters, an intriguing plot, and breathtaking settings and suspense. Grab your passport, because Scattered Legacy from Marlene M. Bell is una corsa selvaggia.

Synopsis:

To outsiders, the relationship between Manhattan antiquities assessor Annalisse Drury and sports car magnate Alec Zavos must look carefree and glamorous. In reality, it’s a love affair regularly punctuated by treasure hunting, action-packed adventure, and the occasional dead body.

When Alec schedules an overseas trip to show Annalisse his mother's birthplace in Bari, Italy, he squeezes in the high-stakes business of divesting his family’s international corporation. But things go terribly wrong as murder makes its familiar reappearance in their lives – and this time it’s Alec’s disgraced former CFO who’s the main suspect.

Accompanied by friend and detective Bill Drake, Annalisse and Alec find themselves embroiled in a behind-closed-doors conspiracy that threatens the reputation and legacy of Alec’s late father – linking him to embezzlement, extortion, and the dirty business of the Sicilian Mafia. The search for the truth sends the trio straight into riddles, secrets, and an historic set of rosary beads. Annalisse leads Alec toward a discovery that is unthinkable, and events that will change their futures forever.

Scattered Legacy is the third in Marlene M. Bell’s thrilling Annalisse series, which weaves romance, crime, and historical mystery into addictive tales to instantly captivate fans of TV show Bones or Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code.
